A Message from the Dean John K. Menzies

Dear Friends,

As the new dean of the Whitehead School, I would like to welcome you to Seton Hall and invite you to join us on an incredible journey.

As you get to know us, you’ll quickly discover that we are genuinely guided by the values of our School’s distinguished namesake, John C. Whitehead. He is one of America’s finest diplomats, who, as Deputy Secretary of State, had an immense influence on world events. A war hero and philanthropist, Mr. Whitehead is a respected global citizen who has made a vast difference in every field he enters. He inspires us all.

Our exceptional students are inspiring as well. They hail from every region of the U.S., and from more than 40 countries. Whether their hometown is in Germany or Cyprus, California or right here in New Jersey, they share an extraordinary determination – in the mold of our namesake – to make a difference in the world. They are taking the first steps toward making it happen here. And you can do the same. Many of our graduates have already attained positions of responsibility in government, at the United Nations and other international organizations, and in business.

The Whitehead School offers graduate and undergraduate students a world class education in international affairs. Our students are exposed to a cutting-edge curriculum that combines a deep understanding of global issues with essential real world experience. Every day our students have a chance to put their diplomatic skills to work through rigorous negotiation workshops, intensive study tours, and discussions with leading practitioners and policymakers. Students at the Whitehead School intern at some of the most dynamic international agencies, businesses, and NGOs. They benefit from our unique relationship with the United Nations Association of the USA, the broader UN community, and our proximity to New York City itself.

As we begin our second decade, we all feel a great sense of pride in our achievements over the past decade. In just ten years, the Whitehead School has become a leading center for dialogue and learning, with a reputation for bringing world leaders and international dignitaries to campus. What motivates us all is our vision for the future of the School and its graduates.

It’s an exciting time to be at the Whitehead School. I invite you to explore our web site, and pay us a visit. Then we hope you will join us.

Sincerely,

Ambassador John K. Menzies, Ph.D.
Dean
