CALL FOR PAPERS: ENERGY: MARKETS AND SECURITY

The Whitehead Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations is pleased to invite submissions for upcoming issues. The Journal is a global forum for discussion on current international, political, economic, and diplomatic issues, and brings to its readers outstanding and thought-provoking work from world-renowned academics, professionals, and experts. With an ever-growing readership, the Journal is widely recognized and distributed internationally. It is indexed by Columbia International Affairs Online, Public Affairs Information Service, International Political Science Abstracts, America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts, and Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory.

The Summer/Fall 2007 issue will center around the issues of global energy production and consumption, as well as the political, economic, and environmental repercussions that result from this universal dependency. This topic also raises issues of national security, as it relates to a state’s demand for continuous access to global energy reserves. Within this theme, specific concerns over nuclear energy production, and its viability as an option for non-nuclear states, will be addressed. The expansion of global oil exploration and production also presents a number of ethical and economic dilemmas, the examination of which is crucial to the theme. Furthermore, in consideration of the various possibilities for future alternatives to traditional sources of energy, this issue will include a discussion on the development of renewable, and more environmentally sensible, energy sources. The Journal is currently inviting submissions on these topics as well as general submissions pertaining to international affairs. Please submit articles by April 11, 2007.

The Journal is published twice a year. Articles submitted to the Journal must be original, must not draw substantially from articles previously published by the author, and must not be simultaneously submitted to any other publication. Submissions should be approximately 3,000 to 6,000 words, in 12-point font and double-spaced with standard margins. Endnotes should be in the Chicago Manual of Style (15th Edition) format. Papers offering new insights and/or practical application in the area of international affairs are most welcome. Authors can send articles via e-mail at diplomacyjournal@shu.edu or provide one hard copy of their paper as well as an electronic copy in Microsoft Word format on floppy or CD. Papers should also include an abstract and a brief biographical note for each author, including contact information.
