PUBLICATION, CONFERENCE AND OUTREACH

The Whitehead School, in conjunction with UNA-USA, convenes panel discussions, symposia, and distinguished lectures on United Nations related topics. These sessions bring students and faculty from the Whitehead School together with UNA-USA policy analysts and diplomatic practitioners from the United Nations. Mark Malloch Brown, Chef de Cabinet for UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, addressed "The UN at 60: Renewal and Reform" on campus in the Fall of 2005.

Publishing will include both academic and policy relevant research on the United Nations completed by the distinguished visiting scholars, Whitehead School faculty and students, and UNA-USA staff. These include policy briefs, longer working papers, and articles to appear in the Whitehead Journal of Diplomacy and International Relations.

Sponsoring programs to enhance university-level teaching about the United Nations will be an important initiative of the center. These are expected to include training sessions for professors who teach about the United Nations and related issues and compilation of a handbook with sample syllabi and other resources for UN related courses.
