Martin S. Edwards joined the Whitehead School in 2006. His expertise includes International Organizations
and International Political Economy. Much of his recent work
attempts to understand the broader effects of international
organizations as well as state decisions to join these
organizations in the first place. He is presently engaged in
a study of the design and effectiveness of International
Monetary Fund conditionality. In 2005, Dr. Edwards received
the Leon Weaver Award from the Representation and Electoral
Systems section of the American Political Sciences
Association for his work on electoral rules and fiscal
policy.
Prior to joining the Whitehead School, Dr. Edwards taught at Texas Tech University and at the University
of Michigan. During his four years at Texas Tech, he received teaching awards from TTU’s Department of
Residence Life and the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as several grants. Edwards holds a doctoral
degree from Rutgers University.
