Profile
Yui Suzuki joined the Whitehead School of International Relationship & Diplomacy at Seton Hall University in 2007. His fields of specialization are International Macro/Finance, Economic Development and Transition, Macroeconomics, and International Trade. His current research focuses on issues related to the effects of economic globalization. He particularly argues that economic globalization in this context goes beyond the development of extensive trade links. The expansion of the international capital market is another important pillar of economic globalization, which in turn introduces a dynamic that affects the very foundations of domestic economies.
Prior to joining the Whitehead School, Mr. Suzuki worked as an economist for Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). He evaluated creditworthiness of recipient countries based on economic analysis of balance of payments, fiscal/monetary policy, and national account. He visited more than ten countries (including Argentina, Peru, Russia and Bulgaria) to lead interviews and policy dialogues with local governments, international financial institutions (e.g. IMF and World Bank) and private sectors (e.g. Wall Street).
Yui Suzuki received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan with a concentration in International Economics and Economic Development and Transition in 2007. He earned a M.A. in Economics also at University of Michigan and B.A. in Economics at University of Tokyo.
